With his 30 years of professional experience, CEO Markus Groll has always been interested in technical innovations since the beginning of his career. This began in the mid-1980s with CAD in Planungsbüro, when many architects’ colleagues gave preference to the Rapidographers, was expanded in the mid-1990s with the entry into the CAFM world and the construction-accompanying data controlling and since the beginning of the 2000s more and more perfected, e. g. through CAFM-compliant data quality controlling and research in the area of BIM according to CAFM.

Because facility management is a relatively young profession, there is still much to explore. Rapid developments in technology such as Smart Cities, Smart Buildings, BIM are a great opportunity to make our lives better and easier – but they also pose great dangers. The new technologies have also made us more vulnerable to attacks from outside and terrorism. Cyber security is becoming more and more important.
In 2008, we participated for the first time in an official research project on the topic of BIM for (CA)FM and it will be time for isar1 AG to get involved in research again in the next few years.
